A HISTORY OF WINE - Part 3 Classifications & Vintages

Join us as we explore wine as it became sophisticated and sought after. Wine became refined in Bordeaux, while simultaneously it became sorted and catalogued in Burgundy. Both of these things led to aging wine and the creation of the concept of vintage, and what impact of it, as well as storage methods and the how and why behind it all.

Specific territories were delineated and in some cases created, in order to commoditize, legitimize, and even fetishize the world of wine. This commercialization created an industry, a vocation and educational pursuit, and a lasting mark on the very story of humanity itself. We use wine as a tool for our celebrations, commemorations, socialization potential, and even as an emotional anesthetic. This class visits the social constructs the world of wine ultimately ended up reflecting back to us.

Co-taught with Stéphane Vattepain, visiting resident Sommelier & Desta Marée Proprietor & Wine Director. Special appearances and invitations as well.

This is wine education, with wine tasting as a part of the exploration, but not the purpose of the seminars. These wines are not readily available on the market, most you will not be able to purchase for yourself, with some even directly imported for these educational purposes.
