Join us for 6-weeks of adult education, where we will traipse through geography, history, wine making, and of course, wine tasting. 5-6 wines explored per seminar. Located in the Medoc Room, registration is necessarily limited.
Desta believes in experiential education, and will share her journeys, samples of terroir, and the exposure to the wine growing and making process that she has has hands-on experience with. As part of the emerging Maison Meritage, our Wine School has been taught since 2009, with an ever evolving curriculum and line-up.
This being our 27th cohort, we have developed a community of wine lovers, who have bonded with our staff, as this is the actual wine training we require of them t be on our floor as well. So, some of your classmates will be our new staff members, whom are now finding their way around and learning from our over 500 bin wine list, that is 90% French (and for good reason, register and find out why) that boasts an investment of over $100k in inventory.
This is hands-on, direct education, that is professionally minded, though also a lot of fun. We have a house rule here at Meritage. Take what you do seriously, yourself - not so much.
Our wine school focuses on French wine, varietals & terroir. Just as our wine list does in Meritage. There are a lot of reasons for this though, simply put, it is important to understand the standard in order to understand the world of wine. What we educate on are the principles of wine, and its place at the table of humanity. Join us. The seminar style of this course builds from week to week, with an optional test at the conclusion. Our staff are required to take it, and pass at 80% in order to serve on our floor. For you, just to clarify and remind you - it is optional. This is NOT stuffy sommelier training. This, is some of the best Sundays you will remember spending, in a beautiful environment, with likeminded folks. At roughly $60 per seminar, the value is in just the wine itself. Register now.

Mar 3: Sud de France: Languedoc Rousillon, Provence, “Rosé Day”
We choose Sundays, because off street parking is free. Though, we do always recommend Uber or Lyft for our guests, so alcohol and safety are never a concern. We begin at 2:00pm so our staff are still able to join us for service afterwards, which also means so can you. Many a friendship has been formed through wine school. In addition, our students receive 10% off at Meritage on wine school days while enrolled.
